{"id":10880,"date":"2018-02-15T16:20:20","date_gmt":"2018-02-16T00:20:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.santaclaritahomeandgardenshow.com\/upgrade\/?p=10880"},"modified":"2018-02-15T16:20:20","modified_gmt":"2018-02-16T00:20:20","slug":"nola-aronson-of-advanced-audiology-planning-to-provide-house-calls-alongside-optometrist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.santaclaritahomeandgardenshow.com\/upgrade\/home-and-garden-news\/nola-aronson-of-advanced-audiology-planning-to-provide-house-calls-alongside-optometrist\/","title":{"rendered":"Nola Aronson Of Advanced Audiology Planning To Provide House Calls Alongside Optometrist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Advanced Audiology\u2019s Nola Aronson, a Santa Clarita audiologist, is planning to offer house calls for seniors in partnership with a local optometrist.<\/p>\n<p>Aronson and Dr. Alice Sun of Sunshine Optometry are planning to provide both hearing and vision screenings for seniors with mobility issues, right from the comfort of their homes.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>RELATED: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hometownstation.com\/santa-clarita-news\/health-and-beauty\/advanced-audiology-announces-new-machine-to-increase-precision-for-tinnitus-coping-methods-215943\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Advanced Audiology Announces New Medicine To Increase Precision For Tinnitus Coping Methods<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe forget sometimes the importance of how the eyes and the ears go together,\u201d Aronson said. \u201cWe thought we would team up and do the eyes and the ears at the same time for our seniors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One reason seniors may want a house call is so that it can be done outside of regular business hours, allowing family members with demanding work schedules to be there for the visit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor me, if I have grandparents or parents, I don\u2019t think I\u2019m comfortable sending them on their own to a doctor\u2019s office, and if I\u2019m working 9-5, the only days I\u2019m available is at night or on weekends,\u201d Sun said. \u201cBut if we can bring the service to them on off hours \u2026 then we can give the seniors a very good exam while their families &#8212; your daughters, your kids &#8212; are there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Portable medical equipment exists in the fields of both audiology and optometry, which can be brought to the patient\u2019s home for a complete hearing and vision screening and exam.<\/p>\n<p>Then if prescription glasses or a hearing aid is necessary, what they need can be brought right to the patient\u2019s home, without them ever having to leave, even if a second visit is needed.<\/p>\n<p>Sun recalled when she first started doing house calls about a year ago and was contacted by a resident who had a mother-in-law with MS.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHer world now is her living room,\u201d Sun recalled. \u201cHe\u2019s called many offices asking for the service and nobody was really offering, and when he found that we offered, he was thrilled. So the very next day at about 7:00, our doctor took everything, went to the house, saw her in her bed in the living room.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sun continued, \u201cWe made her a pair of glasses that\u2019s good for watching TV, as well as reading her books, which is what she does now, while her grandchild was next to her, while her children were next to her, and then a week later, we delivered that pair of glasses right to her home. She didn\u2019t have to go anywhere, they didn\u2019t have to worry about transporting her anywhere and then none of the kids had to take time off their work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Though some people may decide they don\u2019t want an eye exam because they don\u2019t have vision insurance, Sun said that medical insurance will usually cover an eye exam for seniors with a medical diagnosis ranging from allergies to cataracts to dry eyes, and Aronson noted it\u2019s the same with hearing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMedicare pays for the hearing test as long as you have a prescription from your doctor,\u201d Aronson said. \u201cWe go one step further to make sure that people don\u2019t use that as an excuse, because we feel that hearing is so important to life and your overall wellness.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Advanced Audiology\u2019s Nola Aronson, a Santa Clarita audiologist, is planning to offer house calls&hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":9340,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[1179],"tags":[2757,1101,2760,2912,3055,3056,2937,2761,3005],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v20.10 -
