Founded in 2008, SCVi Charter School offers a welcoming option for parents in the Santa Clarita Valley. The Santa Clarita based company Project Books was founded in 2011. Since then, they’ve continuously helped numerous people gain books that they otherwise might not be able to afford, and others donate books that are no longer in use.

Project-based learning is a revolutionary method of instruction that requires collaboration, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Each learner tackles deep and engaging projects about real-world issues that involve critical thinking, inquiry, synthesis, and culminate in Presentations of Learning (POLs) to their peers, facilitators, and parents. Their rigorous program is designed around the expectation that 21st-century learners will become entrepreneurs, leaders, and game changers. They challenge their learners in an open environment that is similar to modern workspaces, and our small campus creates a community that allows creativity to thrive.
SCVi also believes in open-ended play, which is essential for the development of physical, cognitive, and social-emotional skills. Many children go home after school to play on their technology or attend extracurricular classes and sports. Their goal is to provide an environment where learners are free to create, explore, problem-solve, take risks, and grow to become independent and self-reliant citizens. This allows the child to not only be ready for college, they are ready to participate and contribute to our global economy.
In 2008, Amber Raskin was looking for something different. Amber observed that the traditional school system was not preparing children for a 21st-century workspace, and she wanted her children to have unique opportunities to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally. Amber traveled the world, working hard to bring an international perspective to her family. She then met Dawn Evenson, a devoted mother with decades of teaching and administrative experience. Both mothers – named “Danber” – envisioned something more than than what their children were experiencing in a traditional public school. They wanted to create a system of education that challenged a child, prepared them for critical thinking, and turned them into problem-solvers. Thus, SCVi was opened for the first time in 2008, and has since been noted as a successful branch of the iLEAD school network.
Students at SCVi graduate at a rate of 14% more than most students, enroll in college 9% more than the national average, and stay in college at a rate of 83%. Being a charter school, the educational curriculum is set up so that it is a personalized, project-based learning environment for students, with grade levels ranging from transitional-kindergarten to all the way through high school. Students at SCVi are guaranteed to be prepared for the future ahead, as they are continuously put through hands-on learning objectives and goals. Students also gain higher-order thinking skills 77% more than their comparison group in their high school years. SCVi is part of what makes the Santa Clarita Valley one of the top areas for well-educated students.

i-Fixx Workshops provides hands-on technical training workshops in construction repairs of homes and commercial buildings located in Santa Clarita.
i-Fixx specializes in drywall, plumbing, painting and general maintenance offering a truly interactive learning experience.
i-Fixx Workshops will help to teach you how to repair your home, keep it up-to-date and generally maintain it. All workshops are hands-on meaning that they simulate real world jobs where you will get your hands dirty doing tasks that you will encounter beyond the class.
The drywall workshop will cover all the basics from the repairing of drywall to the application of textures. First, you will learn about different types of drywall, how to install and tape. Next, you will learn to apply textures to match any wall or ceiling.
The plumbing workshop will cover repairing hot and cold supply lines, sink repairs, broken drain lines, clearing clogged drains as well as how to install PEX piping for repairs. You will also learn how to repair and replace fixtures including toilets, water heaters and faucets.
The painting workshop will cover all the basics in preparation as well as the application of paint to walls, ceilings and doors. You will also learn lots of tips including painting trade secrets so that you can perform like a pro.
The home repairs and maintenance workshop is designed to train you how to do the most common repairs and maintenance. You will learn how to repair a toilet, patch small holes, caulk showers and tubs, change air conditioner filters and a whole lot more. This workshop will also teach the best approach to hiring a professional for those larger jobs that might be a little too much for you to handle.

Citizens’ Climate Education of the Santa Clarita Valley was founded in 2007 by real estate developer and philanthropist Marshall Saunders. His goal was to educate elected and business officials, the media, and the general public about climate change solutions. By empowering ordinary individuals to lead officials to fair, effective climate solutions., Marshall hope to build a broad based national constituency for climate action. From the beginning, CCE reflected Marshall’s vision of a respectful, inclusive, grassroots, organization working to find common solutions to the most pressing social and environmental issue of our time.
Today, many Citizens’ Climate Education trainees work with its sister organization, Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL). Using CCE developed tools and methods, volunteers build support for climate action among elected officials and in the media. In 2016 alone, CCL volunteers held more than 1,350 meetings with congressional offices, published 2,465 letters to the editor and 283 op-eds and composed over 40,000 personal letters to members of Congress, in addition to organizing thousands of outreach events to educate the public on how elected officials and the media cover the issue of climate change.
Citizens’ Climate Education’s strategy remains simple, to empower individuals to understand their own political and personal power, thus discovering and celebrate their own capacity to make a significant difference in this world. By training supporters to build positive, effective working relationships across partisan and ideological barriers, Citizens’ Climate Education works toward the day when national climate action is understood by all to be essential for America’s future health and prosperity.
Their consistently respectful, non-partisan approach to climate education is designed to create a broad, sustainable foundation for climate action cross all geographic regions and political inclinations. By building upon shared values rather than partisan divides and empowering their supporters to work in keeping with the concerns of their local communities, they work toward the adoption of fair, effective, and sustainable climate change solutions.

The Tae Kwon Educational Center is set to participate in the 2018 KHTS Home & Garden Show in Santa Clarita.
Located in Santa Clarita, the Tae Kwon Educational Center offers a variety of educational programs for children. Their children’s program sets the goal of good and positive attitude. Instructors constantly communicate with parents and teachers to discuss sharing exercise of the mind and body, teaching children to become better people. The exercises at Tae Kwon Education Center focus on releasing the children’s energy in a positive manner, emphasizing the non-physical aspects of their daily lives: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control and Indomitable Will.
Their head instructor, Master Lee, received his B.A. Degree in Martial Arts and P.E. from one of the most prestigious schools in Martial Arts: Yong In University, located in South Korea. In addition, he holds Minor studies in Child Psychology. Through years of training in various styles of Martial Arts, he offers the best in martial arts instruction. He performs all around the world and holds self-defense seminars at various universities. He is a world renowned Master and has a passion to extending his knowledge and experience to the next generations.
Given his goal to help children, Master Lee emphasizes each student’s individual goals and self-improvement, training each student equally. Master Lee is not just an observer, he trains with his students to demonstrate movement. The programs at the Tae Kwon Educational Center are designed by Master Lee to teach life skills through Tae Kwon Do training. Each program gives motivation to every student at every level. The center gives proper challenges that leave students, striving to continue toward their next belt. Each program challenges the mind and body, improving focus and concentration with patience and perseverance.

Brain Balance Achievement Center of Valencia has been assisting families with children diagnosed with learning and behavioral challenges in the Santa Clarita Valley since 2015.
Brain Balance center located in Valencia is the Santa Clarita Valleys facility focusing on making a difference for youth through programs that fit the needs of each child.
Mark Matthews, Center Director for Brain Balance of Valencia has taken his experience in public service and directed it toward making a positive impact in the community.
“During my service as a Prosecutor, I became convinced that intervention at an early age for at-risk children is imperative, especially for those who have behavior, learning and social challenges.” said Matthews, “There are lots of fine organizations that help children, but when I found Brain Balance, I knew this was the organization I wanted to be a part of.”

Established in 2011, the WiSH Education Foundation is a community charity organization that has been helping supply William S. Hart School District’s institutions with additional funding to help support a wide variety of programs provided within the junior highs and high schools in the area. With a number of Hart district schools located in the Santa Clarita Valley, there are multiple programs offered at each that can use additional financing, and the WiSH foundation has been there to help narrow the gap between government funding and the school programs offered to students.
Whether it helps supply football equipment or new computers, the WiSH Foundation has been there to plan numerous fundraising events and garner grants to help students learn more and implement tools for the future. With planned events such as their annual “Starry, Starry Night” along with various barbecues and cocktail parties all through Santa Clarita, the WiSH Foundation partners with many local businesses and chains to help gather additional financing for the community’s students.
Despite vying times, the WiSH Foundation has been able to help provide local schools with the physical means for students to prepare for their futures. They continue to seek sponsors and volunteers so that every member of Santa Clarita benefits from the supplemental funding raised for the communal schools in the William S. Hart District.
