What Is Included In Full Living Room Sets?

Living Room Set

Whether you’re moving into a new home or it’s just time to revitalize your space, finding a full living room set that you like can be a challenge. When you go to your local furniture store, they’ll have whole room setups to give you an idea of how the pieces look in a space. But these sets are often just random pieces aesthetically arranged, not actual living room sets.

The truth of the matter is that, while there are sofas and accent chairs designed to be a set, most of what you see in such showrooms are not sold together. Here are the pieces that should be in all full living room sets.

Your main pieces: sofas and accent chairs.

A full living room set should have at least one sofa, couch, or loveseat, as well as at least one accent chair. It is usually a good idea to balance your space with two accent chairs offsetting the larger sofa, but if your room doesn’t have space for it you can usually opt for just one accent chair. More chairs also mean more seating, which is important if you like to frequently entertain guests.

Your sofa and accent chairs are the biggest pieces of furniture in your living room, so make sure that they count and set the right tone for the rest of the room.

Ottomans

If you like to put your feet up but don’t want to pay high prices for a fancy recliner, matching ottomans are a great option. They are usually fairly inexpensive to add to a living room set, and they are the most versatile piece of living room furniture. Ottomans offer a place to rest your feet, rest your tush, or rest your magazine. They can also easily be moved out of the way to make room for activities. And because they don’t take up much space, there will be plenty of room for the movers to pack and deliver all of your other furniture.

Tables

End tables are a must. They give you and your guests a place to set down glasses, remotes, or other small items. You should also consider a coffee table as well, but some spaces don’t allow for them. Choose to forego the cocktail table if it will make navigating your space too difficult.

Storage

Every living room needs storage, right? Curio cabinets, media centers, and other storage display furnishings may be available as a part of your desired living room set. If not, you can easily match these items to the woods or veneers used in the rest of your home furniture.

Other home furniture pieces to consider.

Although not technically part of living room sets, you should also consider the following items of affordable home furniture:

  • Bookcases, secretaries, or console tables.
  • A desk or correspondence table.
  • Large mirrors and other detailed furnishings.

Not sure what you want to include in your living room set? Hunt for ideas while also comparison shopping before making an actual purchase.
