New Hearing Aids Called ‘Healthables’ Discussed By Audiologist In Santa Clarita

Advanced Audiology

A brand new type of hearing aid being called “healthables” is now available, and an audiologist in Santa Clarita is discussing the latest technology advancements these devices utilize to do much more than only help users’ improve their hearing.

“Times are really changing when it comes to the world of hearing,” said Nola Aronson of Advanced Audiology. “Hearing aids aren’t hearing aids anymore… Now they are bluetooth headsets, and they are now called healthables.”

This rebranding is taking place due to the extensive range of tasks these new hearing devices are capable of, which includes everything from overall wellness promotion to hands-free cell phone use and more.

Just a couple of the capabilities healthables feature that Aronson mentioned include:

  • Brain and body activity tracking

  • Fall detection

  • Caregiver alerts

  • Heart rate measuring

  • Siri capabilities

  • Translation of 26 different languages

  • Taking phone calls hands-free

  • Playing music

“It’s all built in,” Aronson said. “It all has artificial intelligence, and it’s just this little teeny device now and you don’t even see it. So not only do you get the hearing benefits from it, but you get all the health benefits too.”

Though there is “just no end” to what technology is now capable of, according to Aronson, she pointed out that there is no reason to be intimidated by these advanced features, as the most important goal of a hearing device remains to help people hear better.

“You can use (the advanced features) if you want to use it and not use it if you don’t want to,” she said. “But the biggest, biggest thing that they’ve worked on is being able to have the clarity of speech in a noisy environment.”
