The Santa Clarita Valley Water Agency (SCV Water) are set to host their free monthly virtual class on Saturday February 6th to teach the basic elements of sustainable landscaping.
This month’s class is titled “The Basics of Sustainable Landscaping,” and the instructor will be John Windsor, a certified arborist and a California certified nurseryman.
“He has been a Horticultural Advisor in the Santa Clarita Valley for more than 21 years,” said SCV Water officials. “He has a teaching qualification in Horticulture and teaches gardening and landscape classes at the local Adult School, and the Santa Clarita Department of Parks and Recreation.”
The class aims to teach about the basic elements included in sustainable landscaping, including “ways to preserve natural resources, be water-wise, and still have a landscape that meets their needs.”

SCV Water hosts a virtual gardening class once each month, in place of in-person classes due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“Our instructors will still provide the same great content but in more condensed format,” said SCV Waterofficials. “Classes will focus on the topic for 45 minutes to one hour, followed by a question-and-answer session at the end. All presentations are recorded and available for viewing on our website one week after the live class. Participants will also be able to download the presentation.”
The free “Basics of Sustainable Landscaping” virtual class is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 6, at 9 a.m.
