A variety of solutions for hearing loss to fit every budget is available at Advanced Audiology, according to Nola Aronson, a Santa Clarita audiologist.
“We have hearing aids in every price range,” Aronson said.
Additionally, 0 percent financing for one year is available, and Aronson noted she makes every effort to work with patients who have financial issues.
“Sometimes I make a few other arrangements,” she said. “Whatever I can do to help somebody is what I try to do.”
The goal of Advanced Audiology is not to just “sell” hearing devices, but to determine the right hearing loss solution for every unique individual, according to Aronson.
“We’d like to help you with what you actually need rather than what you don’t,” she said. “So if you’re very active and you go to a lot of places where there’s lots of groups and lots of noise, if you’re still working, of course you’re going to need a hearing aid thats costs more money, because the more expensive it is, the better the sound quality, the better the clarity.”
In contrast, if a person doesn’t spend much time in noisy environments or big groups, they might not need as high quality of a hearing device, which is something Aronson said she considers when deciding which hearing aid to recommend to her patients — something big box stores may not do because of upselling and profits in mind.
“You come to somebody like Advanced Audiology, you have professionals there that aren’t there to sell you something — we’re there to solve a problem,” Aronson said. “You’re having trouble in your life, we want to help you with your life… We’re not trying to take advantage of you. We’re trying to give you the education and the counseling.”
For example, a patient with high quality hearing aids recently returned to Advanced Audiology after about two years because of problems with them, and had decided she wanted a brand new pair with rechargeable batteries.
Rather than making the sale on a new pair, Aronson recalled discussing the pros and cons of rechargeable batteries with the patient, but pointing out that her existing pair probably just needed to be adjusted and would then have the same sound quality as new ones.
“I said, ‘Look, let me reprogram these for you. Why don’t you go out and try them now that I fixed them and see how you’re doing with the problems?’” Aronson said. “I could have sat there and said to her, ‘Okay yeah, spend all this money and let’s get you the rechargeables because they’re a littler newer.’ But I don’t feel that she’s going to benefit that much to spend all the money.”
Aronson continued, “So I’m honest. I’m not going to sell somebody something that they don’t really need, and a lot of my patients come back to me for all these years because of that. Because I’m there to care about them and to help them, not to sell them something.”
