Audiologist In Santa Clarita Uses Creativity To Help Patients Hear During Office Closure

Advanced Audiology

An audiologist in Santa Clarita is using her creativity to help her patients continue to hear well during a temporary office closure caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

“We are not open, because unfortunately, I can’t even believe this, but we are not considered an essential business,” said Nola Aronson of Advanced Audiology.

As they comply with the closure order, Aronson and her staff are using innovative ways to continue offering limited services, such as offering a special phone number for patients who are having issues with their hearing devices.

“There is a cell phone phone number that you can call — it’s 661-388-6998,” Aronson said, explaining that she will walk people through any small issues that can be fixed easily over the phone.

If the issue requires Aronson’s expertise to fix, she is asking the patient to arrive at the closed office on an individual basis so they can put their hearing aid in a designated spot for servicing.

“The door will be locked. You will call the phone number. I’ll be inside wearing gloves, a mask and disinfecting everything, and you’ll put your hearing aid in a basket and I will take care of it for you,” Aronson said.

Additionally, batteries and any other critical supplies patients may need are being mailed by Aronson to her patients’ homes for free.

“We are providing you batteries and whatever other tools that you need to keep your hearing aids working properly so that you’re able to hear during this time,” she said.

Finally, high-risk seniors who have underlying health conditions and cannot leave the house, but need to have their hearing aid serviced in person, are being offered special accommodations.

“In rare cases, if there is a patient like that, we are willing to drive to the patient’s house and they can leave the hearing aid outside when they know we’re going to be there,” Aronson said. “We’ll bring tools with us to fix it.”

Most importantly, Aronson wants to make sure people know that Advanced Audiology will make every effort to continue supporting them however possible while the coronavirus pandemic continues, and afterward.

“We want you to know that we are here for you,” Aronson said. “You do need to continue to hear, so that’s really important… If you have any issues, please contact us. We are always here for you.”
