Breast Cancer Awareness Month is coming up in October, so Advanced Audiology’s Nola Aronson is showing her support for women in Santa Clarita facing breast cancer.
It’s not commonly known that a possible side effect experienced by chemotherapy patients is inner ear toxicity, which can lead to ringing in the ears, hearing loss and balance disorders, Aronson noted.
Though chemotherapy can be lifesaving for a breast cancer patient, side effects like these can often be felt for months or even years, making a Santa Clarita audiologist a key part of the patient’s treatment team.

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Advanced Audiology is set to participate in the hearing aid manufacturer Oticon’s “Hear in Pink” campaign, where special edition pink hearing aids are offered and a portion of proceeds donated to breast cancer research, officials said.
However, participating in this campaign is not the only way that Aronson “stands in solidarity” with Santa Clarita women facing breast cancer, according to officials.
The Santa Clarita audiologist is also the nonprofit Circle of Hope’s board vice president. The local organization provides emotional, educational and financial assistance, along with supportive wellness therapies, to individuals with cancer.
Additionally, Advanced Audiology is serving as title sponsor of the 2019 Afternoon Tea fundraiser for Circle of Hope, which is scheduled to take place Oct. 12 at the Hyatt Regency Valencia.
Aronson said that with early detection, advanced technology and proper care, her team at Advanced Audiology can address hearing issues that result from chemotherapy in breast cancer patients and restore their quality of life.
