Advanced Audiology’s Nola Aronson Discusses Hearing Devices And Cost

Santa Clarita Audiologist - Advanced Audiology team

Santa Clarita audiologist Nola Aronson is discussing the price of hearing aids, and what options are currently being offered through Advanced Audiology for those concerned about cost.

Although the newest and thus more expensive hearing aids usually give the best sound quality, Aronson pointed out that using a slightly older model is an option to reduce price.

“Unless you’re very, very active and still working and still going to all these groups and everything, the hearing aids that were (from) a year ago are still really good,” she said.

Once new models are released, Aronson can sometimes offer special discounts on previous models.

“I may be able to make a deal with the manufacturers so I can provide really good service for hearing to our seniors and to people that don’t have the money,” said Aronson.

Additionally, 0 percent financing for 12 months is offered at Advanced Audiology to qualified individuals, so the full cost of the hearing aid might not need to be paid for in full upfront, according to Aronson.

“There are options for everybody, but you have to see what’s going to work for you, and that’s what we do,” she said. “We look at people’s lives and their social lives and what do they need, because we are there to give solutions. We are not there to ‘sell’ hearing aids.”

It may be tempting for someone interested in saving money to buy over-the-counter hearing aids from infomercials and other sellers, but Aronson cautioned against this because not having the help of a licensed professional can result in the hearing aid not working properly.

“They are not a commodity,” she said. “It’s really important to come to a professional like ourselves who will evaluate the situation and tell you the truth. And yes, we may be a little bit more money, … but the thing is, we have a private practice and we have a lot of experience in our practice.”

Aronson and the team at Advanced Audiology not only work to find the best hearing loss solution for each individual’s unique situation, but they also offer service over time, including cleaning and adjusting the hearing device.

“When you’re having a problem, you want to be able to walk in the door and be taken care of right away,” Aronson said. “You want somebody who can adjust them if they’re not working right. You want somebody you can depend on to always be there, and Advanced Audiology has been in the Santa Clarita Valley for 32 years. We’re not going anywhere.”

Further, picking Advanced Audiology is a way to give back to the local community, Aronson noted, as 10 percent of proceeds from hearing device sales are donated to Santa Clarita nonprofits.

“We donate a lot of money to our nonprofits in this community, because we love Santa Clarita,” she said. “Even though we have a pretty large population here, we are a close-knit community. People know each other, people care about each other.”

This is the reason Aronson decided to become a Santa Clarita audiologist years ago: she said she deeply cares about changing lives by improving people’s hearing.

“When we hear our best, there’s nothing stopping us from enjoying the sounds of laughter, of music, of nature, of conversations,” she said. “I had a musician in, … and when he turned on his music in his hearing aids, his face lit up like a little kid with this big smile across his face.”

Aronson continued, “That made my heart melt, because that’s really what I want to do for people. I want them to know what they’ve been missing. I want them to say, ‘Wow, you changed my life, Nola,’ … and that is all I do this for.”
