At Advanced Audiology, Santa Clarita Audiologist and Owner Nola Aronson have announced a goal of providing 2,000 free hearing screenings to residents in the year 2018.

Last year, the team at Advanced Audiology surpassed their goal of providing 1,500 free hearing screenings to the community, and so Aronson made the decision to aim even higher this year.

“We don’t want there to be anything standing in the way of somebody at least knowing what they need to do about their communication to lead a better social life,” Aronson said. “So we provide that.”

Not only is Aronson planning to give thousands of free hearing tests in Santa Clarita, she also intends to focus the new year on offering community education in an effort to increase awareness about hearing and communication issues.

She is asking residents to go online and send in their ideas for a special series in the works, which will include a free breakfast, hearing screenings and a talk about a topic related to hearing.

“We would like to educate people about communication and hearing, and therefore we were thinking that we would like to invite maybe 10 people at a time to our office,” Aronson said.

One topic that might be discussed during the series is the number of diseases that recent studies have linked to hearing loss, like Alzheimer’s and heart disease.

By increasing awareness about topics like this, Aronson believes community members can improve their quality of life and physical health by ensuring their hearing is taken care of.

“We feel that hearing is so important to life,” she said, “and your overall wellness.”
