At the United States Forest Service of the Santa Clarita Valley, they are a multi-faceted agency that manages and protects 154 national forests and 20 grass lands in 3 states and Puerto Rico. The agency’s mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the nation’s forests and grass lands to meet the needs of present and future generations. Securing the beauty and preservation of these outdoor parks is their prime directive.
The Forest Service has an elite wildland firefighting team and the world’s largest forestry research organization. Their experts provide technical and financial help to state and local government agencies, businesses, private land owners and with tribes to help protect and manage non-federal forest and associated range and watershed lands.
The US Forest Service augments their work through partnerships with public and private agencies that help them plant trees, improve trails, educate the public, and improve conditions in wildland urban interfaces and rural areas, just to name a few. Their team also promotes sustainable forest management and biodiversity conservation internationally. Educating the public is a key aspect for the forest service insuring the survival of the natural resources that is provided.
The US Forest Service organization includes ranger districts, national forests, regions, research stations and research work units and the northeastern Area Office for State and Private forestry. Each level has responsibility for a variety of functions. The work includes managing 193,000,000 acres of national forests and grasslands, including 69,000,000 of roadless areas. The forest service is an agency that is constantly working to secure the nations land areas, to ensure that the visitors are always experiencing a wonderful experience. Their dedication makes the Forestry service a career to become involved with.
There are many programs to get kids involved, as they are the future of the forest service, and should be educated properly. The Junior Snow Ranger program is designed for children on the fourth and fifth grade. Outdoor and indoor activities are included in a colorful publication that highlights themes such as safety, wildlife, winter ecology, recreation, and the joy of winter fun.
The United States Forest Service of the Santa Clarita Valley has the staff and personal to educate the public on the awareness of the forests and services provided. The involvement of the community is always greatly appreciated.
