Castaic Lake Water Agency encourages people to stay green and helps the Santa Clarita Valley community by providing them with tips to improve the Water Conservation Act. As a public water wholesaler, the Castaic Lake Water Agency provides Santa Clarita with approximately half of the water that is used by households and businesses.
Their mission is to provide the Santa Clarita Valley with clean, reliable, quality water at a reasonable cost. The Castaic Lake Water Agency aims to increase the number of local groundwater supplies with the State Water Project from northern California and other nearby sources of imported water.
Water Distribution in Santa Clarita
Castaic Lake Water Agency’s water is first treated and then goes to the four local water suppliers in the Santa Clarita Valley, including Los Angeles Water District #36, Newhall County Water District, Santa Clarita Water Division, and Valencia Water Company.
The Castaic Water Agency strives to improve how the general public in Santa Clarita utilizes its water through their process to distribute it and by implementing programs that will educate the citizens of the valley to incorporate water-saving practices and water-use efficiency and reward them for their water conscious actions.
Water-Saving Tips in Santa Clarita
With a number of different ideas and tips for the residents of Santa Clarita, the Castaic Lake Water Agency suggests running sprinkler systems between the hours of 2 am and 6 am, because the evaporation rates and the winds are the most minimal. They also advise the switching out of usual plants with drought-friendly plants. The Castaic Water Agency also suggests reducing run-off when you irrigate your grass by aerating your turf, and installing a weather-based irrigation controller to help reduce the unnecessary water usage in the Santa Clarita Valley area.
