As one of the many non-profit organizations in Santa Clarita, Project Books Inc. is dedicated to providing those with limited resources with the gift of books. They accept donations from any and all individuals, as well as businesses, private companies, and other organizations to help spread the gift of stories around to those who need them.
Located in Santa Clarita, Project Books Inc. helps provide books to the Los Angeles County, and even sometimes Berkley. Founded in 2010 by Marcia Decker who was inspired to build this foundation when she came across a dumpster piled with books. Realizing the potential waste in all of these books being thrown away, Decker rescued them from the garbage and fought to put them back into the hands of eager readers. Some of the many locations that Project Books Inc. provides books to are homeless shelters, Veterans Association hospitals, senior centers, the Newhall Community Center, and more.

While all genre donations are welcome, children’s books and picture books are especially appreciated. Wishing to fight the trend of books going to waste, Project Books Inc. is dedicated to spreading all reading materials donated to those who cannot afford them throughout the Los Angeles County and beyond. As a result, they offer free local pickup and delivery in not just Santa Clarita, but also in the Palmdale and Lancaster areas to help enlarge the donation radius in the county.

Thanks to the assistance provided by the legal clinic at USC, Project Books Inc. were able to receive a tax-exempt status in 2011 and has been serving as a non-profit organization ever since, leading to any and all donated books to become tax deductible. With the help of various other organizations, such as the Literacy & Arts Expo, College of the Canyons, and the Home & Garden Show, the word has been spread about Project Books Inc. and the literary cause, but Decker and her organization always welcome more events and businesses to help spread the word and increase the number of donations and deliveries. It is the continuous mission of Project Books Inc. to provide books to those in need in the communities of the Los Angeles County, but also to make sure that books will never go to waste.
