In 1985, owner Todd Thornbury noticed his father Tom working on the owner’s manual of a new product he was going to bring to the market. Tom explained how he started a small company that invented a better hot tub—portable, energy efficient, and self-contained. Todd, seeing the career opportunity in front of him, decided to get involved with Softub, Inc., after graduating from college.
For over 20 years, the American Softub Company has been Thornbury owned and operated. The company has remained successful, selling thousands of Softub spas in Southern California.

The Softub spa is a durable, lightweight, revolutionary hot tub that meets your needs for portability and efficiency. For site prep, all you need is a level surface; installation takes minutes. All you need to do to set up is roll your spa into position, connect the Hydromate using only a screwdriver, fill it with water, and plug it in. No construction or concrete necessary. A Softub plugs into a regular household outlet. All you need to do is plug it in, saving you money. Regular acrylic tubs require a separate heating element. Because the heaviest Softub weighs less than 95 pounds, it can easily be moved or rolled to a new location. Ordinary spas weight 400-900 pounds.
