Advanced Audiology: Innovations In Hearing Aid Technology

Santa Clarita Audiologist Nola Aronson

Nola Aronson, the owner of Advanced Audiology and a Santa Clarita audiologist, recently talked about new innovations in hearing aid options due to advancing technology on “The Senior Hour” on KHTS AM-1220.

“The technology today is so far surpassed what we’ve ever had before,” Aronson said. “You don’t see them at all anymore.”

Instead of thinking of them as hearing aids, Aronson advises perceiving them as Bluetooth devices with cutting-edge technology that simplify connecting with loved ones.

“They are Bluetooth headsets — they do hook up to your smartphone, your iPhone,” she explained. “You can answer your phone without having to hold it up to your ear, you can listen to music… You know how people have to have those long wires hanging out of their ears and everything? Well, you don’t have to do that if you have these.”

An audiologist that currently works at Advanced Audiology but will soon be leading a new office location in Northridge, Dr. David Hsu, seconded this.

Comparing hearing aids to a vehicle, Hsu made an analogy that the creation of cell phones “just opened up a whole new world” from the communication limitations before then.

“You can think of different levels like that with hearing devices,” he said. “When we lose some of those connections in our hearing and our community, and then the hearing devices open those up and cast hopefully new horizons as well.”

Aronson added, “It’s when we lose those connections that we start to feel isolated, depressed, not able to do the things we wanted to do before… Just think of it as really good technology to keep you in communication.”

Advanced Audiology was founded in 2010 by Santa Clarita audiologist Nola Aronson, who has been fitting hearing aids for more than 30 years. Advanced Audiology is the largest diagnostic hearing center in the Santa Clarita Valley, focusing on clients with hearing loss, tinnitus, ears ringing and more. Hearing tests, hearing aids and new sound infrared devices are also available at Advanced Audiology in addition to a complete hearing healthcare program that includes free batteries, quarterly cleanings and adjustments.
