Santa Clarita Coalition

The Santa Clarita Coalition is a non profit organization, established to connect other Santa Clarita non-profits and stakeholders in a number of support areas with their primary focus in the SCV.

Their mission is to serve as self appointed second responders, helping their neighbors in the Santa Clarita Valley rebuilt their lives after a natural disaster, including clean up, things for the home, clothes and even counseling.

The coalition was founded in 2004 by Carl Goldman and Jeri Seratti-Goldman, owners of Santa Clarita radio station KHTS, along with Sand Canyon resident and neighbor Diane Green, to assist local victims of damaging floods in the Santa Clarita Valley.

The Santa Clarita Valley has had it’s share of disasters through brush fires, and then rains and flooding that follows.  The coalition is dedicated to help those who have been affected by devastating fires, rains and mudslides by assisting in the evacuation and clean up process.  Currently, their focus is on last year’s Sand Fires and the mudslides that followed.  If you Donate To The Santa Clarita Disaster Coalition, 100 percent of the money, will go directly to those Sand Fire victims in the Santa Clarita Valley.

In recent years, the coalition has begun focusing on two programs: Music Therapy and Disaster preparedness.

Reno Drums has been responsible for creating music therapy with the use of drums.  We support by helping raise funds for supplies, teachers and the overall program.

Music Therapy has been shown to help address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals. They have partnered with The Senior Center, SCV Domestic Violence Center, and Action Family Center to help those who could be helped by this therapy, such as Alzheimer and Dementia patients, Domestic violence victims, those in addiction recovery, autistic and post traumatic stress victims.

The Coalition is now evolving toward helping teenage runaways and veterans.

They hope the coalition will build a bridge of support for the families, through counseling, and coordination with law enforcement to find a missing teen.

Through their work establishing SCV Habitat for Heroes they found a need to help local Santa Clarita Veterans with a one-stop information/assistance organization.
