Imagined as ideal in the early 1950’s for the Newhall community, citizens and business owners grew interested in forming a water district. The district is owned by the public of Newhall and a board of elected directors are in charge of running it, and has been flourishing in the Santa Clarita community for over six decades.
Though the community of Newhall is named in the Newhall County Water District, their services are not restricted to only Newhall, and is only one of the four water purveyors that serve the Santa Clarita Valley. As one of the water curators in the area, this Newhall district serves areas such as Tesoro and Castaic. With almost 10,000 connections, 23 above ground steel reservoirs, and 11 active groundwater wells that remain active, the Newhall County Water District deals with their fair share of water collecting and supplying. Though the district serves a few communities, the total population they are responsible for providing water for is just over 45,000 people with the district’s boundaries expanding across about 34-square miles of Santa Clarita land.
Maintaining a variety of different contact services, the Newhall County Water District can be called for assistance in a number of ways. Along with the standard phone calls and faxes, the district also provides clients with a mailing address, and, to the convenience of many Santa Clarita residents, an emergency answering service. Should any water emergency occur after hours, leaving contact information with the answering service will prompt a NCWD representative to contact clients as speedily as they can. Though the staff includes a number of 31 employees, they make quite the positive impact in supplying water for the district.
Holding the title of outstanding service, the Newhall County Water District has been servicing residents with excellent drinking water at fair costs for sixty years, and take pride in continuing this trend. The dedicated staff and Board of Directors in charge of the Newhall District promise to continue in providing superb water and services to the businesses and residents of the valley.
