Academy Swim Club

At MIT, one of the most prestigious schools in the world, it has been made a requirement to learn how to swim ever since one of their alumni, a young and successful individual, died from a lacking of this basic skill.  This is an essential thing to know and teach children. In Santa Clarita with so many homes with swimming pools, it is crucial for families to take action to prevent such accidents, which tragically happen too often.

It was one of these accidents, which pushed the owners of Academy Swim Club in Santa Clarita to open up shop. Jim and Nikki Miller were out on a lunch date in 1994 when their youngest child, a one-year-old had accidently found his way into their spa while their babysitter was on the phone inside the home. It was by a miracle the older brother, a four-year-old, was able to pull him out at the last minute, with so much swallowed water the younger brother vomited next to the Jacuzzi, which is how the parents realized what had happened. Since the incident the Millers decided to focus their time and energy into helping the community prevent these misfortunes.

…Managing The Valley’s Best Swim School For Children

Nikki has an exceptional record to be in the position of managing the valley’s best swim school for children. A licensed psychotherapist with a Master’s Degree in Psychology she also has experience as a Registered International Supervisor of Child Play Therapists. Other ways she stands out as a swim instructor include currently being the past Chairperson of the USSSA Learn-to-Swim, a certified Master Instructor of Infant Aquatics, and Course Committee Board Member of the United States Swim School Association.

It is truly inspiring to have such a dedicated individual here in Santa Clarita helping the children of the community. Not only does their state of the art facility teach them the basic safety skill of swimming, but also motivates them to be more confident and builds character. Introducing children to this effective exercise makes them enthusiastic and curious, all in a fun environment for them to take part in the vital experience of being in water.
